MOVER DUDES' CLAIM PROCESS

WE INTEND TO BE QUICK, SUFFECIENT AND PROVIDE A REASONABLE OUTCOME TO ALL. OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE-IT-RIGHT.

THE PROCESS & VALUATION EXPLAINED

THE PROCESS

1) File a Report

This is the best time to document what is damaged. If you believe there to be more damages or another issue, you can report at a later date. Our goal is to be timely, so a quick claim submission will get this process going.

2) Repairs Scheduled

If a damage is repairable, we will typically make an offer to have a professional handle the repair with scheduling occurring between you and the professional directly.

3) Claim Processed

This is where the path differs by the specific claim. We may make a payment directly to yourself or choose to submit a claim to insurance. Once we submit the claim, a third party insurance adjuster will look at submitted details and create an offer based on the terms on your moving agreement.

4) Resolution

The furniture repaired will be delivered and installed. Payments will be issued, typically via a check in the mail. We will confirm that your repair was handled well and satisfactory, and that the monetary payment is understood and sufficient.

VALUATION EXPLAINED

Our efforts involve handling valuable and often irreplaceable belongings. The Valuation Coverage selected in the moving agreement informs how remedy is assigned if something goes wrong during your move. This is an important part of your moving agreement and determines the level of compensation available for loss or damage. Mover Dudes provides three levels of valuation to each customer: 1) Released Value Protection, 2) Full Replacement Value Protection, and 3) Mover Dudes’ Make It Right Valuation Coverage.

Mover Dudes' Make-It-Right Valuation Coverage

  1. Make-It-Right Assurance provides added protection beyond basic coverage. It allows for repair or reimbursement based on replacement value, with a reasonable deductible and clear limits, making it a popular choice for customers who want extra peace of mind during their move.
  • $250 Deductible
  • Limited Payout (Per Item) of Move Cost or $1,200, whichever is greater.
  • Repairs to furniture or home have no deductible.
  • Cost is 4% of Quoted Move Cost

  • EXAMPLE: If a dresser was purchased two years ago for $600 and it was damaged beyond repair, the total payout is likely $425.

We find this by:

  • Determining Replacement Value. Often purchase price subtracted by 5% per year. We use Industry Standard Depreciation Tables provided by our insurance carrier.
  • Subtracting the deductible of $250.

Released Value
Protection

Released Value Protection is included at no cost and provides minimal coverage at 60¢ per pound, per item. It is the most economical option but offers limited compensation for loss or damage. There is no deductible but the amount paid out is typically minimal.

  • EXAMPLE: If a dressor weighs 120 Lbs and it is damaged or destroyed, the total compensation would be $72.00
  • EXAMPLE: If a vase weighs 5 Lbs and it is damaged or destroyed, the total compensation would be $3.00

As you can see, this option is best for when the furniture is not valued highly and cost is a major concern. This is typically best when damages (or the resolution of damages) are not a concern.

Full Replacement Value Protection

  1. Full Replacement Value Protection provides the highest level of coverage available. It allows for repair, replacement, or reimbursement based on the full replacement value of lost or damaged items, up to the total declared value of your shipment. This option is ideal for customers moving higher-value furniture, electronics, or household goods and who want maximum peace of mind.

  • $500 Deductible

  • Customer declares a total shipment value (minimum of $25,000 or $6 per pound × estimated weight, whichever is greater)

  • Maximum payout is limited to the declared shipment value

  • Mover Dudes may repair items, replace them, or provide monetary reimbursement

  • Cost is $0.70 per $100 of declared value (minimum charge of $175)

EXAMPLE:
If a customer declares a shipment value of $50,000 and a dresser originally purchased for $1,200 is damaged beyond repair, reimbursement would be based on the current replacement cost of that item, minus the $500 deductible, provided the total claim does not exceed the declared shipment value.
